Marflow’s Remote Commissioning concept is a system solution offering all that is required to balance and control water flow to hydronic terminal units in the most flexible and environmentally friendly way.
By coupling pressure independent control valves with a BACnet controller running custom firmware the remote commissioning concept takes commissioning out of the ceiling space and into the commissioning engineer’s laptop.
The remote commissioning concept relies on the use of a rotary pressure independent control valve. Because the flow rate is limited by the mechanical position of the actuator the flow rate setting can be programmed into the building controls.
When coupled with custom firmware and the Marflow single station balancing method, the entire water balancing process can be controlled remotely.
Single station balancing (SSB) is a commissioning and verification method developed by Marflow to better commission variable volume water systems by simulating the system in use.
SSB provides system verification by measuring grouped flow rates at strategic locations such as sub or branch mains whilst sections of the system are closed down. This allows system performance to be assessed under real operational conditions.
BACnet is a Data Communication Protocol for Building Automation and Control Networks based on open protocols and developed by ASHRAE in the United States.
BACnet is now starting to become common in the UK and interface modules are available from most BMS system providers. The remote commissioning concept uses a BACnet compatible controller and network router.
All of the remote commissioning controllers are connected to a network router to interface with the BMS system, in turn this network router can be connected to a wireless access point allowing the commissioning engineer to control the verification process wirelessly.
