Installing control valves to fan coil and chilled beam systems...

...how MHS (Marflow Hydronic Systems) can help

Installation Made SimpleIn any fan coil or chilled beam system, the key priorities for contractors include:

  • Successful, efficient installation
  • Onsite time-savings
  • Ease of commissioning
  • Confidence that the system(s) will meet the end client’s needs

MHS has developed tried and tested processes to take much of the ‘donkey work’ out of the process and help to ensure that all of the above criteria are satisfied in the most efficient and cost-effective fashion. From initial design through to handover and ongoing operation, we can help contractors to deliver the best solution for themselves and their customers.

Striking a balance

Clearly it is vital to ensure that any chilled water or LTHW system is properly balanced. Failing to do so results in uneven, fluctuating room temperatures, high energy consumption and complaints from customers.

To avoid these issues, we need to distribute the flows by use of regulating, commissioning, differential pressure, flow regulating valves and the associated correctly sized pipe work. This is where MHS comes in.

When a project specifies our new EVOPICV pressure independent control valve, as part of a simple and compact Xterminator package, we will:

  • Ensure that the design system is simple, with the minimum CAD time for the designer.
  • Minimise the number of valves in the system and on the terminal unit to benefit the installer
  • Pre-fabricate and pre-test units off-site to deliver major time and cost savings for the contractor during installation and commissioning

The Xterminator unit shown below comes complete with flow regulation, flow measurement, differential pressure control, flushing bypass and drain valve –all in one very compact unit that can fit directly onto the fan coil unit, due to MHS’s unique 40mm centre design. If fitted with a TRV head or actuator it then has temperature control of the terminal unit.

Once the terminal units have been selected all we need to put the valve package together are the required outputs of the FCUs/chilled beams and a schedule. We will then assemble the packages, using our in house software (see below) and valve specification.

Installation Made Simple

Each valve set gets a reference and is labelled to your specification for matching with the terminal unit.

Almost removes the need for commissioning. All that becomes required is a checking exercise to prove too concerned parties that water volumes are at design.

As the Meerkat quiet eloquently puts it "Simples".
