Filter Ball Backflush

The patented strainer back flushing system uses the upstream fluid diverted through the body of the valve and through the strainer in the reverse direction to flush debris and sediment out through the drain valve fitted in the cap on the third port.

Procedure for backflushing

  • Turn the isolating valve lever into the off position that is at 90º to the direction of the flow.
  • Fit suitable hose and waste arrangement
  • Remove the pilot valve cap ‘A’ and fully open the pilot valve by turning anticlockwise using an allen key
  • Open the drain valve for 10 to 30 seconds to flush the strainer.
  • Reverse the above procedure to return the Filterball Backflush to service.

Strainer maintenance

Periodically the strainer can be removed for inspection by turning the isolating valve lever into the off position and removing the cap complete with drain valve. Before unscrewing the third port cap the pilot valve must be closed, and should remain closed except during backflushing

  • Care should be taken with hot fluids to ensure safe discharge.
  • A safety cap and hose union connection are supplied with the drain valve
